Company glitch
The glitch is the only certainty. We dive, stumble, and become disoriented in every undertaking. In this acknowledgement of failure, shaped by social and political constructs surrounding our bodies, we strive for a 'phygital'* metamorphosis.
“We want a new framework and for this framework, we want new skin. The digital world provides a potential space where this can play out.” (Legacy Russell – Glitch Feminism: A Manifesto)
Stefanie Inhelder drew inspiration from Russell's words to establish the dance company glitch, aiming to unite artists from Berne, Zurich, Paris, London, and Amsterdam.
Here's an insight into our ethos:
⬤Format
By concentrating on the body as a representation of socio-political constructs, we reshape the existing paradigms. Glitch crafts installations, dance pieces, and films.
⬤Form
Glitch's creative endeavours are positioned at the crossroads of contemporary dance, music, and visual arts. Pivotal to this is the use of cutting-edge technologies and AI, enabling us to mould 'phygital'* forms. The motion capture system allows us to blur the boundaries between the physical and digital realities, epitomising the glitch.
⬤Fields
Our artistic exploration delves into various conditions of the body, partnering with people from research and activism who have devoted their lives to these distinctive topics. Our current work focuses on partners specialising in postcolonial studies and intersectional feminism.
⬤Core
As we journey through time, our bodies constantly glitch. Carrying the past within our physical archives, we aim for present-day transformations. The prospect of the future and the aid of technology help us to alter existing internal pathways.
*Phygital is a term that describes blending digital experiences with physical ones.
